PDO threads are the latest revolutionary treatment for skin tightening and lifting. The threads are made of PDO (polydioxanone) material which is the same self-dissolving substance used in surgical sutures.
When inserted into the skin, the PDO threads act as a “scaffold” for the skin which helps to “hold” the skin against the effects of gravity and aging. The “mesh” of threads will also shape the face by lifting and supporting sagging structures. PDO sutures will continuously stimulate collagen synthesis under the skin.
These thread sutures are absorbable in 4-6 months leaving nothing behind but the skin structure created which typically continues to give results for up to 2 years.
The advantage of PDO threads is that they are easy to place with no downtime or surgery. They can be put in using topical anesthesia but many treatments are done comfortably without topical numbing. A typical procedure will be less than 30 minutes and the results are immediate and long-lasting. They are often used in combination with fillers and Botox. PDO threads are commonly used for lifting the brows, face, and neck as well as several other areas on the body.
